Ok, here's the situation, if you're locked out of your facebook account, forgot your password, how would you feel about having a code sent to one of your "trusted friends" to be given to you to get back in on your account?
I was reading an article that was posted on www.mashable.com called "Facebook Says 600,000 Accounts Compromised Per Day." This is due to spam. In the article, Facebook said that giving the code to three to five of your "trusted friends" and is also testing apps that will generate passwords that way you won't have to remember.
I don't know how I feel about this new application or the "trusted friends" code. It does not shock me at all at the fact that accounts are being compromised. If you think about all the spam in your news feed and that posts on your wall from what people click on on a daily basis. Spam can also come from where people are tagged in pictures and they click on the link, or where they are clicking on videos inside the news feed that have spam and/or a virus attached and feeds off all the friends on your profile.
What do you think about the code or application?
I definitely don't like this idea. I think if someone wants to share their password with a friend, they don't need to do it online. I know I'm personally not comfortable with Facebook generating passwords for me, since I feel like online information is compromised all the time, and who's to say hackers won't somehow access these databases?
ReplyDeleteI don't like this idea at all either. Everyone should have security questions that only they can answer, then they will be able to securely change their password once their account has been compromised. I have actually never heard of Facebook doing this, could this whole thing be a scam?
