Facebook and Compromise

Ok, here's the situation, if you're locked out of your facebook account, forgot your password, how would you feel about having a code sent to one of your "trusted friends" to be given to you to get back in on your account?

I was reading an article that was posted on www.mashable.com called "Facebook Says 600,000 Accounts Compromised Per Day." This is due to spam. In the article, Facebook said that giving the code to three to five of your "trusted friends" and is also testing apps that will generate passwords that way you won't have to remember.

I don't know how I feel about this new application or the "trusted friends" code. It does not shock me at all at the fact that accounts are being compromised. If you think about all the spam in your news feed and that posts on your wall from what people click on on a daily basis. Spam can also come from where people are tagged in pictures and they click on the link, or where they are clicking on videos inside the news feed that have spam and/or a virus attached and feeds off all the friends on your profile.

What do you think about the code or application?

Country Muse

Country Muse. I'm sure no one has ever heard of it. What about Texas Radio Group? Those in the south and in the radio business may have heard that name before. What are these two companies and what do they do?
Texas Radio Group is a consulation group, that also sends out compliation cd's of top music artists that will be featured in Texas Radio Play Magazine and the online radio station, Texas Radio Play. How does Country Muse affect Texas Radio Group? Country Muse is an independent blog and magazine that launched over the summer of 2011. As a part of Texas Radio Group, the blog began as a way to share stories with family and my boss.
When Chris sent me to CMA Fest to cover stories and do photo shoots, the blog took effect full force. Of the week that I was in Nashville, I received over 500 views without advertisements. There were also views from other countries as well. Within a month there were a few thousand, and we haven't even hit our six month mark yet and we have had over 6,000 views from numerous countries including Canada, Germany, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Mexico, Malaysia, Australia, and more.
Launching the Facebook allowed us to post pictures and start creating a fan base. Although we do not have many "likes" on Facebook at this time, that is ok. It is more important that we are relating back to the consumer of our media and giving ourselves the reputation that we care about what our fans think.
In 2012 we will be launching the new website along with the new blog, re-vamped twitter and new campaign. The first full pressed issue of Country Muse will also be released in 2012 along with a user friendly app (that is still being discussed at this time and no information can be released).
Over all social media, has helped 24 articles/blog posts go from small to big time work. Keep looking for more from Country Muse. Check out the Facebook and "like" us for behind the scene pictures, interviews, etc with country music artists. Check out our twitter for extras that you don't see on the blog or facebook. @countrymuseblog    http://www.countrymusegroup.blogspot.com/

Karmin Music - Viral Video Duo into Stars

In the 50s and 60s, talent was discovered in the raw, but today it can be done a little easier. With social media sites such as YouTube, you can broadcast yourself and your talent, whether it be good or bad, or just plain ugly. That is what the internet sensation Karmin did.
The duo started out recording songs and videos for family and friends, and began recording covers for fun. When they started getting good reviews and shares, they began to record more videos at the request of their new fanbase. After studying at Berklee College of Music, the duo who was skeptical of putting their cover video that went viral of "Look at Me Now" on YouTube, probably would now say it was the best thing they could have done.

After posting the cover, the video circulated in e-mails, on facebook, twitter, and was being sold on iTunes. The couple was soon asked to make an appearance on The Ellen show, as well as perform with The Roots.
Now, Karmin has been offered record deals for their original music because of the fresh style, fresh look, and charisma that they are giving to music. Their new single "Crash Your Party" is out now.
This goes to show that social media has a huge influence on the way we find entertainment. We all know the story of Just Bieber, whether we like him or not. The power of social media is strong. Just by posting videos of singing and showing the world what you can do, can make a difference. With one video, someone can watch it, share it with their friends, their friends share it with theirs, and so on. It is like the branches of a tree. It keeps going on. The social media has the power to make you a star.
One video can make you or break you. I am anxious to see how Karmin does in the future with their musical endeavors. To check out more of Karmin visit http://www.karminmusic.com/

Another dating website.... seriously?

So we all know of plenty of dating websites from television commercials like eharmony.com, christianmingle.com, match.com,and zoosk.com. Those are just some examples that I can remember seeing commercials for. Now get this....

Now a new dating network has been created. I recieved an e-mail about it. Why, I have no earthly idea because I'm happily already with someone, but it is called Date My School. Here is a screen-shot of the e-mail that I received.

I watched the video that was on the website while I was at work because one of my co-workers recieved the same e-mail. You can only access the website if you have a ".edu" e-mail that is certified through a college/university. Also, you can pick the age range, weed out the majors that you aren't interested in and pick from the people they give you.

It seems like just another dating site to me. They say they can "fish out the weirdoes" but I'm just not into dating websites because you never know what you are going to get because it is not in person and people can lie about who they are online. I guess they are just trying to get a target market of younger college age students.

Has anyone else received this e-mail?

Pin What?

So one of my friends and one of my co-workers was talking the other day about this new website/social network they had signed up for called Pintrest. I had never heard of it before and became intrigued by the name of the site. Little did I know that it was an exclusive site and you had to be invited to join the site. There is a button to where you can "Request and invite."

I asked my friend Erin, who was already a member to send me an invite where I could check it out. After signing up. The user has the choice of logging in through facebook or twitter and then changing the login preferences after that.

Basically all Pintrest is, is an internet cork-board or multiple cork-board where users follow each other and pin things to these boards of things that interest them. Users search through pictures and search through pictures and post them on these boards and it uploads them for other followers to see what you have pinned to your boards. The above image is a screen shot I took of a music search I did and some of the images that popped up.

Within just a few days of having Pintrest I already had quite a few of my facebook friends following me on Pintrest even though I had not "pinned" anything on there. I had just mainly looked around and checked out the site to see what it was all about. It seemed like a normal google search but just a way you could save the images with out wasting hard drive space. I think I would use it again, I just wouldn't spend as much time on it as I do facebook and twitter.
